Summit Man Struck By Car In Critical Condition: Police

SUMMIT, NJ - A 53-year-old Summit man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle crossing Broad Street Sunday night, according to the Summit Police Department.

The pedestrian was crossing near the intersection of Park Place shortly after 9:30 p.m. when a 48-year-old Springfield woman heading east on Broad Street struck him with her 2016 Chevy Tahoe, police said.

The preliminary police investigation said the man suddenly entered the roadway and was struck by the side of the Tahoe. The driver of the Tahoe remained at the scene and no charges have been filed yet, police said.

The pedestrian was transported by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad to the Morristown Medical Center and is in critical condition. The identity of the man was not released due to patient status.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Summit Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
