Two Summit Police Officers Promoted

Congrats! Two Summit Police Officers were promoted on April 5.

SUMMIT, NJ — Congratulations! Two Summit Police Officers Ryan Peters and Rick Proctor were promoted on Wednesday.

Officer Ryan Peters was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant. Detective Sergeant Peters, with his son Matthew in hand, was sworn into his new rank by City Clerk Rosemary Licatese and Chief Robert Weck.

During his time as a Summit Police Officer, Det./Sgt. Peters has served in the Patrol Bureau, as a Field Training Officer, a Firearms Instructor, and Active Shooter Response Instructor. He is also a member of the Union County Emergency Response Team and Union County SWAT.

Det./Sgt. Rick Proctor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Lt. Proctor was sworn into his new rank by City Clerk Rosemary Licatese and Chief Robert Weck. He was accompanied by his parents as he took the Oath of Office.

Lt. Proctor has served in a variety of roles during his time as Summit Police Officer, including Patrol Supervisor, Community Policing Unit Supervisor, Juvenile Detective & Unit Supervisor, Field Training Supervisor, the Department's School Safety & Security Liaison, and as a Firearms Instructor. He is also a member of the Union County Emergency Response Team. Lt. Proctor will now assume the role of Commanding Officer of the Patrol Bureau.
