The fight continued until Deininger fled the campus. Though there was no specific threat to the campus community, a shelter-in-place order was issued as a precaution.

Police eventually found the victim in the fight, who wasn't named, and discovered that the two were "acquainted."

Deininger was later apprehended at his residence in Hackensack with the assistance of other agencies, including the Bergen County Regional SWAT team, after an hour-long standoff, police said.

He was served with a Complaint Warrant and remains in custody while awaiting a Superior Court of New Jersey bail hearing, police said.
