Bergen County Academies Student Nominated For Neuroscience Prize
Varun Kumar's discovery may lead to the ability to reverse the immunity to treatment certain kind of brain tumors exhibit.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Bergen County student has been nominated for a national award thanks to his research that may lead to better treatment of brain tumors.
Varun Kumar, a junior from Woodcliff Lake attending Bergen County Academies, is a finalist for the Neuroscience Research Prize from the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the Child Neurology Society (CNS).
Kumar's research focuses on treating glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain cancer that becomes immune to treatment after a while. Kumar's work may lead to reversing this immunity.

Three winners will each receive $1,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to the AAN's annual meeting in Los Angeles where they will present their work. Another winner, and his or her teacher, will have the chance to present their work at the CNS's annual meeting.
