PSE&G Teaneck Electric Reliability Upgrades Public Workshop

PSE&G invites you to attend a public workshop to learn about local projects that will improve the capacity and reliability of electric service to homes and businesses in and around Teaneck. PSE&G’s public workshop will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the New Jersey National Guard Armory, 1799 Teaneck Road, Teaneck. The workshop entrance and parking area are located on the north side of the building, adjacent to Liberty Road. There will be no formal presentation, and visitors are welcome anytime between 7-9 pm.

The snow date will be Feb. 22 at the same time.

Plans for one of the projects, the Bergenfield Substation Upgrade, is scheduled to be heard before the Teaneck Zoning Board of Adjustment at 7 p.m. on March 1, 2012 in the municipal building, 818 Teaneck Road. Upgrade of the Bergenfield Substation, which is located in both Bergenfield and Teaneck, was approved by the Bergenfield Zoning Board in July 2011.

The Bergenfield Substation is located behind DiBella’s Music Store at the intersection of South Washington Avenue and Liberty Street.  The proposed station upgrades will replace and increase the single 26 kilovolt (kV) source capacity of the substation by the addition of both 69 kV and 230 kV circuits. The improvements will be achieved with the use of gas-insulated switchgear technology to provide greater switching capacity in a smaller space.

PSE&G representatives also will discuss upgrades to the Teaneck Substation at Palisades Avenue and Colonial Court, as well as overhead and underground circuit improvements in Teaneck. Together, these projects will reduce the possibility of overloads that could impact 82,000 people in eastern Bergen County.
