Teaneck Creek Conservancy, Education Agency Team Up To Beautify Park

World's largest education franchise joins Teaneck Creek Conservancy volunteers for park clean-up and Sycamore tree planting

Kumon, the world’s largest after-school math and reading program, celebrated Earth Day on Friday morning by joining local volunteers in the revitalization of the Teaneck Creek park. Nearly 50 Kumon employees from its Teaneck based North American headquarters helped plant Kumon donated flowers and plants, as well as an American Sycamore tree.

“As a company dedicated to children, we put great emphasis on our commitment to the community and take a conscientious approach to improve the quality of life for future generations,” said Mino Tanabe, president of Kumon North America, Inc. who was also on-hand to help with the clean-up and planting efforts. “We are grateful that the Teaneck Creek Conservancy allowed us to give back to a park that many of our employees enjoy on a daily basis.”

Kumon employees spent the morning helping Teaneck Creek Conservancy volunteers with various activities including flower planting, weed removal, trash pick-up, and mulching. Planted flowers included Coastal Sweet Pepper Bush, Blue Mistflower, Common Winterberry, Great Blue Lobelia, Black Chokeberry, Red Chokeberry, Smooth Blue Aster, New York Aster and Southern Arrowwood. The day was capped off by the planting of an American Sycamore tree near the park’s outdoor classroom.
