March, Rally, & Divest Dakota Access Pipeline. March 18

Area residents will #StandWithStandingRock nation in their effort to protect the water and their sacred land from the Dakota Access Pipeline

The Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) is a $3.8B, 1,100 mile fracked-oil pipeline which goes from the Bakken shale fields of North Dakota to Peoria, Illinois. It crosses Lakota Treat Territory at the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation where it will go under the Missouri River. DAPL impacts many sites that are sacred to the Standing Rock Sioux and other indigenous nations, and endangers a source of fresh water. This is the same volatile Bakken crude oil that is transported on the CSX Rail Line over the Oradell Reservoir (our precious drinking water) and through our communities.

The huge deFundDAPL movement is an example of local, national and global actions to demand that banks to cut off their line of credit to the pipeline companies and stop funding the DAPL.

On March 18, a coalition of groups will hold an event where we’ll March, Rally, and Divest from Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Chase. People can get more information about why and how you can divest at www.deFundDAPL.org.We’ll assemble at 10 am the Bank of America (790 Palisade Ave, corner of Cedar Lane, Teaneck) where some people will divest, then we’ll march to Wells Fargo (465 Cedar Lane) to rally (10:30) and divest, then we’ll march (11:30) and divest at Chase (205 Cedar Lane). People will divest from other banks on the #deFundDAPL list. Please join us to protect our waters, #Water is Life. Look on Facebook for details at Coalition to Ban Unsafe Oil Trains or at deFundDAPL
