Task Force Finds Stolen Credit Cards, Cocaine In Secret Compartment: Bergen Prosecutor

Two New York men face drug and identity theft charges in connection with a Narcotics Task Force investigation, the Bergen prosecutor said.

LEONIA, NJ — Narcotics Task Force members found cocaine and 14 stolen credit cards inside a secret compartment while searching a vehicle Thursday, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

A task force investigation revealed that two New York men "were in possession of cocaine and involved in stealing identities of unsuspecting victims," Musella said.

Robert Diaz and Jose Pichardo were both charged with second-degree trafficking in personal identifying information, third-degree possession of cocaine, and fourth-degree credit card theft, Musella said.

Task force members searched Pichardo's vehicle on Thursday in Leonia, according to Musella.

They found cocaine and 14 stolen credit cards inside "a sophisticated electronically operated hidden compartment in the vehicle's dashboard," Musella said.

Each credit card belongs to a different person, Musella said.

Diaz and Pichardo were taken to the Bergen County Jail, according to Musella.
