Teaneck Community Charter School Quiz Bowl Team advances to National Championships for Second Straight Year

This is T.C.C.S.'s highest finish in this tournament.

The Teaneck Community Charter School Quiz Bowl team had a record day at the Bergen Junior Academic Tournament on November 1st. T.C.C.S. qualified for the second year in a row and will proudly be representing the school in the Middle School National Quiz Bowl Championships in Dallas, Texas in May.

Two of the team members earned the school’s first ever individual points medals, both finishing in the top ten for the day. These great scores helped propel the T.C.C.S. “Team A” into the playoffs. T.C.C.S.’s “Team A” not only made it into the playoffs, but also went all the way to the semi-finals before placing fourth in the tournament. This is T.C.C.S.’s highest finish in this tournament. While this would be an accomplishment in itself, this fourth place finish has secured the team a spot in the National Championships in May.

All three of T.C.C.S.’s teams performed extremely well, posting great scores and representing T.C.C.S. with great pride. The team advisors are Jaime Valente and Lauren Zaccaria, who are both teachers at the school which focuses on experiential learning. The teams are preparing for upcoming tournaments on January 24th at Briarcliff Middle School in New Jersey and on January 25th at Middlesex Middle School in Connecticut.
