Teaneck Community Chorus Receives Puffin Foundation Award

THE TEANECK COMMUNITY CHORUS RECEIVES $10,000 GRANT AWARD FROM THE PUFFIN FOUNDATION

On June 17, 2015 the Teaneck Community Chorus was awarded a $10,000 grant from The Puffin Foundation, Ltd, of Teaneck, NJ. Puffin Executive Director, Gladys Miller-Rosenstein, told TCC President, Pam Zeldin, “Your chorus exemplifies the meaning of bringing the community together to celebrate the diversity of Teaneck.” The Puffin Board was truly impressed with the “nature of TCC’s proposal and the commitment you have to fulfill the objectives outlined in your request,” added Miller-Rosenstein.

The Teaneck Community Chorus was founded in 1999 with the explicit purpose of representing the diversity of Teaneck through its music. TCC has presented programs that reflect this diversity from Jazz and Klezmer to a Harlem Renaissance and opera! Under the Artistic Direction of Steven Bell, TCC continues to take on challenging and thoughtful musical themes that thrill its audiences!

This grant will enable TCC to continue this tradition into the 2015-2016 season as the chorus prepares its winter concert theme, “We Shall Shine: A Concert for Women of the World.” In keeping with this theme, this grant will also assist TCC in sponsoring the film, Dukhtar, at the 2014 Teaneck International Film Festival, Nov. 6-8. This film depicts the story of a young Pakistani mother and her fifteen-year old daughter’s journey to safety and freedom.
