The Teaneck Creek Conservancy (TCC) will hold its 6th Annual Sustainability Dinner and Environmental Excellence Award Ceremony on October 23, 2014. The event will be held at the Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, New Jersey at 6:30 PM.

The honorees include individuals who have significantly contributed to the vision of the Teaneck Creek Conservancy: Teaneck Mayor Lizette Parker, a former TCC Board Member and Dr. Antoinette Bush, DVM and Science Teacher Teaneck Board of Ed. The Keynote will be delivered by Daniel Santer, Teaneck Beekeeper.

“Honoring these two exceptional individuals seems particularly appropriate as they both witnessed firsthand the transformation of a former dumpsite into Teaneck Creek Conservancy, a protected wetland, passive park and EcoArt destination. Each in their own way, have been instrumental to our growth and development.” said Devery Volpe TCC Director.

TCC offers a variety of outdoor education programs for people to better explore and learn about the park. These programs include nature walks, lectures, and outdoor EcoArt exhibits. The purpose of EcoArt exhibits is to convey the history and ecology of the park through ecological and artistic initiatives. This serves as an opportunity for local schools and the community to uniquely use art and landscape design to integrate the natural, historical, and cultural history of the area.

The Conservancy appreciates the efforts of their many volunteers and continues to provide opportunities to fit a variety of interests and schedules. Some opportunities include maintaining the trails, clearing invasive plants, and special event support. TCC also organizes special volunteer days for community, corporate, school, service or faith-based groups.

About Teaneck Creek Conservancy

The Teaneck Creek Conservancy a County Park is a member-supported, non-profit organization dedicated to the reclamation and protection of the Teaneck Creek watershed. Since 2001, the TCC has been working hard to transform once-neglected parkland into a place of natural beauty. In a unique collaboration between public and non-profit partners, and hundreds of hours of sweat equity, these 46 acres have been transformed into a small urban paradise complete with almost two miles of groomed trails, an Outdoor Classroom for learning, and even a Peace Labyrinth for quiet reflection.
