Police officers from around North Jersey set off on a more than 200-mile bike ride from Teaneck to Washington, D.C. Monday morning in honor of fallen township Officer John Abraham Jr.
Abraham, a 17-year Teaneck police veteran, was killed when his patrol car crashed into a utility pole last October. He was who the fatal crash.
The bike ride, known as the Police Unity Tour, is a national effort to raise awareness of officers killed in the line of duty and ends Thursday in the nation's capital with a ceremony honoring all officers who died in the past year.

This year's ride has special significance, as Abraham's name will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington.
Police Chief Robert Wilson is joining fellow officers on the four-day trek in honor of Abraham. Officers from Teaneck, Englewood, Ridgefield Park, Bogota, Leonia and several other area departments also departed from Teaneck to show support for Abraham.
