Blizzard Cleanup Continues In Toms River
Trees and utility poles came down in multiple areas of the township, and authorities were urging people to stay off the roads.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Plowing and power restoration efforts were continuing overnight Monday into Tuesday in the wake of a blizzard that dropped more than 22 inches of snow on Toms River.
More than 3,400 homes and businesses remained without power Monday evening, according to the Jersey Central Power & Light website.

Mayor Daniel Rodrick on Monday morning said road foreman Steve Burell said the township's plows pushed at least a dozen downed trees out of the roads but they do not have complete numbers on how many trees have come down overall.
Plows were out during the night (as seen in this video) and are continuing to work on township roads.

Toms River officials said recycling and garbage collections were canceled Monday but the rest of the week was anticipated to be collected as scheduled, with some delays as public works catches up.
Town Hall and the recreation center were closed because of the blizzard.
Jersey Central Power & Light was not giving time estimates on when power will be restored as more than 11,000 customers were out across Ocean County, but the company had brought in crews from outside the state to assist with power restoration.
