Brick Man Accused Of Dumping Toms River Woman's Body: Prosecutor

WALL, NJ — Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the death of a Toms River woman whose body was found wrapped in a tarp dumped alongside Route 18 last month, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said Wednesday afternoon.

Edward Ramirez, 51, of Brick, was arrested in connection with the discovery of the body of Jamie Leis, 35, whose body was found wrapped in a tarp in the area of Brighton Avenue and Rockefeller Drive in Wall Township on May 17, not far from Route 18, Gramiccioni said.

Ramirez has been charged with disturbing human remains, he said.

The Wall Township Police Department responded to an initial call at 10:29 a.m. reporting the discovery of a body wrapped in a tarp and immediately called for assistance from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

There were no visible injuries to Leis, whose last known address was in Toms River, the prosecutor's office said. Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
