Toms River ShopRite Bomb Threat Caller Sought: Police

The threat forced evacuation of the Route 37 ShopRite, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A bomb threat phoned into the ShopRite on Route 37 prompted evacuation of the store on Wednesday evening, Toms River police said.

The threat was called in shortly after 7 p.m., said Jillian Messina, media specialist for the Toms River Police Department. The building and parking lot were evacuated while K9 officers from the Toms River Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department checked the area for explosives, she said.

None were found, Messina said.

"At this time there is no active threat to the public," Messina said. Authorities are trying to determine who made the telephone call.
