Learn to Navigate the Emotional and Personal Side of Parkinson’s Progression at the Ocean County Library

TOMS RIVER – Living with Parkinson’s means continually adapting to change: physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially. The Ocean County Library will host the program, “Adapting to Change: Coping Skills for Parkinson’s,” on Wednesday, September 16. It will take place at the Barnegat Branch at 2 p.m. and at the Berkeley Branch at 6 p.m.

This program focuses on the emotional and personal side of Parkinson’s progression and how changing abilities, routines, relationships, and independence can impact daily life. Rather than focusing on symptom management, this class creates space to explore the uncertainty, grief, frustration, resilience, and adjustment that can come with progression over time.

Through guided group discussion, participants will explore coping strategies, emotional support, communication, and ways to maintain connection, meaning, and quality of life. This program is designed to be supportive, conversational, and welcoming for individuals living with Parkinson’s, caregivers, and loved ones.

This program will be presented by Jill McClennen, a Certified Death Doula, end-of-life and grief coach, and trauma-sensitive yoga instructor with over 10 years of experience in creating impactful programs. For the past four years, Jill has led interactive workshops through End of Life Clarity, focusing on essential topics such as death, grief, guided meditation, and relaxation techniques. Through her workshops, Jill creates a safe, supportive space for participants to explore these complex topics.
