TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Lakewood man has been charged with lewdness after he exposed himself to a girl while she was walking along Route 9, Toms River police said Friday.

Ronald Banilov, 28, of Lakewood, was arrested at a Lakewood residence on Sept. 18, said Jillian Messina, media specialist for the Toms River Police Department.

Banilov was stopped in the driveway of a business on Route 9 that day when he saw the young girl walking along, Messina said. He then asked the girl for directions, and while she stood next to his vehicle, pointed to his lap and exposed himself, Messina said.

The girl quickly walked away from the vehicle, she said. At no time did Banilov try to lure the girl into his vehicle. She later provided a description of the vehicle and the license plate to law enforcement.

Mr. Banilov was arrested and charged with lewdness by the Toms River Police Department. He is due to appear in court at a later date, Messina said.
