Search Suspended For Swimmer Who Drowned Off Seaside Park

It is the fourth drowning at the Jersey Shore in 2026.

SEASIDE PARK, NJ — The search for a man who drowned Friday in Seaside Park has been suspended, and he remains missing, police said Monday.

The 23-year-old Palmyra man went missing shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday near Decatur Avenue, and authorities searched for him until dark on Friday night, Seaside Park Sgt. Andrew Casole said.

The man's name has not been released.

The search continued through the day Saturday but was suspended at that point. As of 7 a.m. Monday his body had not been recovered, Casole said.

It is the fourth ocean drowning at the Jersey Shore in 2026. Also on Friday, a 28-year-old Lacey man drowned after getting caught in a rip current in Ship Bottom.

On May 17, a man drowned after getting knocked off his boogie board in the waves off Ocean City. His body has not been recovered.

On June 1, a 14-year-old boy on a class trip disappeared while swimming in Wildwood. His body has not been found.
