Last Day to Register for Primary Election in the Tri-Boro

Extended hours will be offered by the municipal clerk of Bloomingdale.

Tuesday is the last day to register to vote in the June 4 primary election, where Tri-Boro municipal council races are the only local contests.

  • In Bloomingdale, the municipal clerk's office will offer extended hours: Residents may come in to register up until 9 p.m.
  • The Butler clerk's office will be open Tuesday under its usual schedule, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • The municipal clerk of Kinnelon Borough will be open for regular hours, as well, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The primary election race for two available Bloomingdale Council seats will be uncontested in June. The action will come for the November general election, when Democrats Dawn Hudson and Anthony Costa take on Republican incumbent Linda Shortman and her running mate, newcomer Albert Miller for two three-year seats.

The Butler Council's two open seats also will not be contested for the June 4 primary. Republican incumbents Stephen Regis and Edwin Vath are running for re-election and have no GOP opposition. Democrat Linda Gilvey, also running unopposed in the primary, will face Regis and Vath in November.

A different story exists for the Kinnelon Council, where on June 4, three Republicans will vie for two three-year seats that will be open this November. Incumbents Stephen Cobell and Jim Freda will run against challenger Robert W. Lewis. No Democrats are running in Kinnelon.

The primary ballot will also include races for Morris County clerk and the two District 26 General Assembly seats and one state Senate seat, and for Passaic County, freeholder and sheriff will be on the June ballot.
