Man Indicted In Dumping Of Woman's Body In Wall

The woman was found wrapped in a tarp and dumped not far from Route 18 in Wall Township.

FREEHOLD, NJ – A Brick Township man has been indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury in connection with the dumping of a Toms River woman's body in Wall Township last May.

Edward Ramirez, 51, of Brick, was indicted on a charge of unlawfully disturbing, moving or concealing a dead body, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said Monday in announcing the indictment.

Wall Township police were called at 10:29 a.m. on May 17, 2018, with a report of the discovery of a body wrapped in a tarp in the area of Brighton Avenue and Rockefeller Drive. The woman was later identified as Jamie Leis, 35, of Toms River. A cause of death has not been released.

The subsequent investigation by Wall police and the prosecutor's office led to the arrest of Ramirez.

Ramirez faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
