6 Indicted In Connection With North Plainfield Fatal Stabbing

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — Five Plainfield men and one Plainfield woman were indicted in connection with the fatal stabbing of Nelson Noe Garcia-Lopez, 24, of North Plainfield in August.

Garcia-Lopez was walking alone on West Front Street at around 2:12 a.m. on Aug. 19 when he passed a group of about 15 people. Some of the people began to chase Garcia-Lopez as he ran down Grove Street into North Plainfield, according to the report.

A 911 call reported the fight around 2:18 a.m. and when police arrived they found Garcia-Lopez suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, Robertson said.

The post mortem examination found that Garcia-Lopez had been stabbed multiple times throughout his body and the manner of death was deemed a homicide, according to the report.

Garcia-Lopez was the intended target of the assault and authorities have not released a motive to maintain the integrity of the investigation, according to the report.

As a result of an investigation, five Plainfield men were identified as being a part of the group that chased down, assaulted and killed Garcia-Lopez. A Plainfield woman was also charged.

  • Oscar Ivan Baquendo-Martinez, 23, of West 4th Street, Plainfield;
  • Patricio M. Piruch-Nekta, 25, of Clinton Place, Plainfield;
  • Cesar A. Carcamo-Ortega, 25, of East 2nd Street, Plainfield;
  • Nelson S. Aguilar-Lopez, 20, of West Front Street, Plainfield;
  • and Alder E. Juarez, 22, of West 7th Street, Plainfield

All five men were indicted on charged including first-degree murder, second-degree conspiracy to commit murder and/or aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon (a knife) for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree rioting.

The woman, Gicsy B. Galindo-Acosta, 22, of West Front Street, Plainfield was also indicted for two counts of third-degree hindering apprehension or prosecution.

All six are currently in the Somerset County Jail on pre-trial detention.
