It's Back to School Time for Green Brook Adults Too

Adult education classes for the fall semester begin in mid-October.

Do you want to learn more about what your children are doing on social media? Would you like to learn another language or try your hand at pottery making? If so, this is your chance: The Green Brook Township Public Schools, via its website, is announcing a new adult education program starting this fall.

The courses to be offered this semester are:

  • Social Media 101 This course is designed for parents and community members who want to actively engage and participate in social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Students of the class will learn what social media is, where it started, what the purpose of it is and how to stay safe and secure online. Students of the class will also learn about digital citizenship and learn the pros and cons of parenting children in the digital age.

  • Spanish for Beginners This course provides an introduction to the Spanish language and cultures of Spain and Latin America. Students will develop basic listening and speaking skills, and some reading and writing skills necessary to communicate in Spanish about self, family and daily life, as well as basic survival needs. Students will also explore cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world.

  • Ceramics This course is designed for students who have an interest in working with clay, and gives students experiences in making functional as well as sculptural pieces, using a variety of techniques. Well thought-out forms, designs and functional uses along with good craftsmanship are emphasized. Students will create works of art in clay utilizing the processes of hand building using coils and slabs as well as wheel throwing.

The classes will meet once a week for one hour at Green Brook Middle School starting the week of Oct. 14 and running through the week of Dec. 2. The cost of each class is $50.00.

At least 19 students need to be signed up for each class in order for them to go forward.

Interested residents must print and complete this Adult Education Registration Form and send it with a check made payable to Green Brook Board of Education to Danielle Cooper, BOE Office, 132 Jefferson Ave., Green Brook, NJ 08812.
