Major Recycling Pickup Changes Coming July 1 In Wayne Township
Paper recyclables will now be collected on a different week than everything else. Here's where to find if your route will change:
WAYNE, NJ — Major changes are coming for how Wayne residents recycle, township Mayor Christopher P. Vergano said in a recent update.
Currently, residents put out commingled plastic and glass out to the curb at the same time as paper products like cardboard and newspapers. Starting July 1, residents will have these collected on alternating weeks, Vergano said: Plastic, metal, and glass one week, and paper products the next.
"We've consolidated the numbers of routes that we have in the township," he said Monday.

Vergano said that some route numbers will change, and urged residents to check a brochure sent out by the township to see any changes.
“This was all to try and have a better stabilized rate that we pay for recycling,” the mayor said.

"Remember, one week it's going to be paper, and the next week it's going to be everything else," he said.
Vergano also reminded residents that the township is on a permanent alternate-day watering schedule to level out water usage in Wayne.
Township water and sewer officials ask residents with addresses ending in even numbers, and zero, to water their lawns and landscaping on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only. Those with addresses ending in odd numbers are asked to water only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
