WAYNE, NJ — Here's some news that fans of Volino's Meat Market Steak House can drink to. The Wayne Township Council unanimously approved Wednesday a liquor-license transfer to the restaurant.

Volino's received a plenary retail consumption liquor license, which permits the license holder to sell alcohol for consumption at the premises and the sale of packaged goods for consumption off-premises. Sales must take place in the licensed bar room.

The license transfers over from Cheers, LLC t/a Valley Brooke Wines Spirits. Licenses are limited — New Jersey towns can only supply one per 3,000 residents. And licenses held by someone with an inactive site become "pocket licenses."

Wayne officials praised the fact that one of the township's liquor licenses wouldn't go to waste.

"That’s what I like to see, because that’s helping our economy," said Council Member Joseph Scuralli.

Volino's, which is currently BYOB, said on social media they'll have some big news to announce regarding the new license.

Volino's touts itself as an upscale dining experience akin to what you'd find in New York City. All ingredients are made in the from-scratch kitchen.
