Conigent/Wodify & CrossFit 1Force Team Up To Raise Funds For Individuals With Autism

In a recent joint promotional event between Conigent/Wodify of Haddonfield and CrossFit 1Force of Deptford, 150 individuals came together for a Coaches’ Throwdown to raise funds for recreational/sensory equipment for a Bancroft Neurohealth group home in Voorhees. Ten CrossFit 1Force trainers, including Conigent/Wodify product specialist Jon Walka, battled it out in a friendly CrossFit competition at CrossFit 1Force in Deptford completing three strenuous workouts in two hours.  Their efforts from this event will contribute to several smaller recently held events for a total of $5,000 raised for Bancroft Neurohealth.

Makala is the 13-year-old daughter of Tara Lange of West Deptford Township, and she resides at the Bancroft Neurohealth group home in Voorhees. Tara was the first member of CrossFit 1Force, and she and the gym’s co-owner Erin Kelly bonded over both having children with autism. The funds raised will go towards the purchase of a Wii, an indoor swing, a mini trampoline and other sensory stimulating equipment for Makala and the fellow residents of her group home.

Kelly said, “I’m so grateful for Tara’s dedication to her training. I always say, CrossFit 1Force started with 1, and it was her. She’s also an amazing mentor and advocate for parents of children with autism.” CrossFit 1Force, only open since August 2011, now has approximately 300 members from ages 14 to 66. The gym will be doubling its space with a move to a new facility in mid June.

Lange, expressed her gratitude for the fundraiser by saying, “if every business operated the way that CrossFit 1Force does, we would have a society built on good health, respect, support of each other and the community.”

Jon Walka, who participated in the fundraiser, teaches weekly classes at CrossFit 1Force as part of a strategic partnership between the gym and Conigent/Wodify where Walka is employed as a product specialist. Part of the partnership involves joint quarterly philanthropic events between the two organizations.  Walka said, “The Coaches Throwdown was definitely one of my favorite philanthropic events. Everyone was so motivated by a good cause and it was a great turnout.”

CrossFit 1Force is the home gym for Conigent/Wodify employees based in Haddonfield and was one of the first gyms worldwide to implement Wodify, a mobile application that tracks and compares CrossFit athletes’ performance data from a tablet, computer or mobile phone.  Wodify is currently used internationally by over 25,000 CrossFit athletes in 180 CrossFit gyms.

According to Lange, “Wodify is genius. It makes record keeping of your personal stats a breeze. I’m honored that members of Conigent/Wodify helped to support this fundraiser.”
