A motive for the killing was unclear Friday, and neighbors were surprised that such a tragic event occurred in their neighborhood.
A man and a woman at Fanz's listed address declined to speak to a reporter, and the rural street was quiet Thursday, according to nj.com.
"We didn't know anything," a woman who lives nearby told nj.com. "All we saw were police at the residence. It's very sad."
Mark Miller, who lives down the street, also told nj.com he saw police on the property three weeks ago, adding: "I was out here working on my car .... and there were 30 police officers on the street. It's quiet around here. It's always been quiet. Usually, you'll see three cars go by in a day."
"It's wild," he said in the report. "I didn't even know anyone even lived in that house."
