2 Charged In Drive-By Shooting That Killed 1, Injured Toddler In Union County
Walter Daniels, 33, of Newark, and Devon Gray, 31, of Elizabeth, were each charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.
ELIZABETH, NJ — Two men were arrested and charged in connection with the drive-by shooting in Elizabeth that killed one and injured two others including a toddler, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel announced on Wednesday.
Walter Daniels, 33, of Newark, and Devon Gray, 31, of Elizabeth, were each charged with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose in connection with the fatal shooting of Guerley Edouard, 28, of Roselle.
At around 8:30 p.m. on June 26, Elizabeth Police Officers were called to the 600 block of Salem Avenue in Elizabeth after reports of multiple people shot in the area.

Officers found three gunshot victims inside a vehicle: Edouard, who was taken to Trinitas Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead, and two female victims, a 23-year-old and a 3-year-old, who were treated at University Hospital and listed in stable condition, according to Assistant Prosecutor Jillian Reyes.
Daniels and Gray were arrested on Friday, Sept. 1 following a joint investigation conducted by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Ballistics Unit.

If convicted, Daniels and Gray could face up to life in state prison.
"While this arrest does not bring Mr. Edouard back, we hope it comes as some small solace to his loved ones, and I commend the dedicated efforts of the investigators from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Department, and the Union County Police Department, who worked tirelessly on this case," said Daniel.
