3 Probationary Firefighters Join Westfield Fire Department

The firefighters bring the department to full staffing for the first time in 17 years.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Three probationary firefighters were sworn in by Mayor Shelly Brindle to the Westfield Fire Department bringing the department to full staffing for the first time in 17 years.

"Congrats to our three new firefighters! Proud that the Town of Westfield, NJ Fire Department is now staffed at its highest level in 17 years!" said Mayor Shelley Brindle.

Probationary Firefighter Brandon Gyory, Probationary Firefighter Raymond Lestarchick, and Probationary Firefighter Matthew Eagan were all sworn in on Friday.

"We wish Brandon, Raymond, and Matthew a safe and rewarding career with the Westfield Fire Department," wrote Town of Westfield, NJ Fire Department.

This addition in daily staffing has returned all four Tours to nine members and allows three fire apparatus to be staffed at times.

With three apparatuses in service, emergency response times and wear and tear on the larger apparatus will be reduced. It will also help firefighters operate as safely and effectively as possible and most importantly improve the level of service provided to the people of Westfield.
