Bathroom Renovation Fire Sparks In Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ — A bathroom undergoing a renovation caught fire in Westfield on Tuesday afternoon.

The Westfield Fire Department was called to Dorset Hill at around 12:50 p.m., for a report of a smoke condition inside a home.

Firefighters found a fire that started in a renovated second-floor bathroom and extended into the attic, said Westfield Fire Chief Michael Duelks.

Contractors extinguished the majority of the fire before firefighters arrived, said Duelks.

Firefighters continued to work checking for further fire extension and ventilating the home.
