WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield High School Theatre Department invites the community to its production of THE PROM, a musical about identity and acceptance. Performances are scheduled for March 5, 6, and 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Westfield High School Auditorium, located at 550 Dorian Road.

THE PROM features a book and lyrics by Chad Beguelin, a book by Bob Martin, and music by Matthew Sklar. The story is set in Edgewater, Indiana, and follows Emma Nolan, a high school student played by Avery McMeekan. Nolan's desire to bring her girlfriend to the prom sparks a national discussion.

The narrative begins with a group of Broadway stars, including Dee Dee Allen (Kelsey Dix) and Barry Glickman (Gavin Salerno), who decide to help Emma. The cast also includes Trent Oliver (Kiran Patel), Angie Dickinson (Valentina Ciucci), and Shelly Saperstein (Mia Saco). These characters travel to Indiana and become involved in Emma’s struggle for acceptance. Emma finds an ally in Principal Hawkins (Mark D'Angelo) but faces opposition from Mrs. Greene (Madeleine Smith), the PTA head, whose daughter, Alyssa Greene (Lily Erneta) is also affected.
