Westfield Limits Deliveries at 7-Eleven

The Westfield Planning Board defined the hours for deliveries at the new 7-Eleven building so as not to impact neighbors

Westfield, NJ -- The Westfield Planning Board finalized the adoption of a resolution allowing a 24-hour 7-Eleven convenience store to open on the corner of Central Avenue and W Grove Street -- but not before amending the delivery hours.

The project will construct a 3,044-square-foot building at 800 Central Avenue. This building would replace the former abandoned service station facility on the site.

On Monday night, planning board members had some concern with the language about limiting deliveries to the new store.

Board President Vincent Wilt suggested that there be no deliveries during late night hours and to limit box-type truck deliveries during peak and late hours.

“Based on the transcript, I don’t think there is a question on large tractor-trailor trucks,” board member Kris McAloon said. “The time was for restriction during none peak hours, outside of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., which is consistent with what the applicant said.”

McAloon did note one concern -- newspaper deliveries may have an issue with the restricted times.

In the end the board agreed that any tractor-trailer trucks would and box-type trucks would only be allowed to deliver between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. with the exception of newspaper deliveries.
