Car Runs Red Light, Hits Another in Westwood
The collision happened shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Lafayette and Washington avenues
The driver of a Volvo ran a red light Thursday afternoon, striking a Honda that was carrying a driver and a passenger, according to police.
The green Volvo traveling northbound on Lafayette Avenue ran a red light and hit the side of a black Honda that was traveling eastbound on Washington Avenue, Lt. Bill Pesler said at the scene. He said a third party that had stopped to give police a statement confirmed that the Honda had the green light.
A River Vale ambulance and paramedics from Hackensack University Medical Center arrived on the scene to assess those involved. Pesler said it's customary to dispatch an ambulance and paramedics when airbags deploy. In this crash, the airbags in the Honda had deployed.

The female driver of the Honda and a female passenger were taken to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood "for followup to make sure there's no injuries," Pesler said.
The female driver of the Volvo, who was the only occupant in the car, declined medical attention at the scene, according to Pesler.
