Elderly Pedestrian Struck in Downtown Westwood

An elderly woman who was crossing Broadway in downtown Westwood was struck shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Capt. Frank Durante said a vehicle making a left onto Broadway from Westwood Avenue struck the elderly woman, though he said the investigation was ongoing.

The woman was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with "some head trauma," according to Durante.

The and HUMC paramedics responded Wednesday.

Police were on the scene blocking traffic from turning onto Broadway from Westwood and Washington avenues. Durante said the roadway would be reopened once the investigation was complete.
