Emergency Errands Etc: Keeping Residents Safe In Severe Conditions

Errands Etc. launches its new branch, Emergency Errands, Etc., to help during times of panic

George and Diana Bedoya are launching Emergency Errands, Etc., a new addition to their business , created one year ago. Emergency Errands, Etc. will supply customers with an emergency kit during times of need.

"With the extreme weather we've had and the difficulty to get around during these times, Diana and I decided it would be a great idea to create an emergency type kit, it can be whatver the customer needs, and deliver them to families who need these items in order to be comfortable," George said.

The Bedoyas work closely with , buying most of their supplies there. It's this strategic partnership that George said enables him to always have necessary supplies on hand, including batteries, flashlights, light bulbs, candles, shovels, rock salt, ice scrapers, extension cords, gas cans, coolers, matches, supplies, and more.

If the 5 & 10 doesn't carry an item Bedoya's customer orders, his Errand Runners will find it at another store. Some additional items Emergency Errands, Etc. will deliver include food, water, and over the counter products. George said they'll even pick up prescriptions if the customer requests. Emergency Errands, Etc. will also deliver gasoline for cars or blowers.

The idea to create Emergency Errands, Etc. came to the Bedoyas during the August storm.

"When we lost power, just prior to it I remember going to all of these local stores looking for batteries or flashlights and they were all sold out not to mention the chaos," George said. "Same thing at Shoprite, the shelves were empty of the necessities and people were acting as if the world was coming to an end."

Emergency Errands, Etc. will enable these locals to stay at home and have storm and flood necessities delivered to their door. The owners of Errands, Etc. often work for the elderly and working families, who have difficulty getting last minute items, especially in horrid weather conditions. George has seen elderely people go without heat, power and phones, and wants to do something about it.

"Having started Errands, Etc. just over a year ago and working very closely within the community, we've seen many needs go unfilled," he said. "We believe that this is a good community service to the people. Many times people cant get to stuff becuase there just isnt enough hours in a day and worse, when mother nature is not cooperating."
