Emergency Personnel Responded to Ash Street Home Fire

The fire occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday

Emergency personnel responded to a fire on Ash Street in Westwood around 2 a.m. Sunday.

According to Police Capt. Frank Durante, the fire was contained to a dryer in the home. He said police and fire personnel responded to a report of smoke in the home. It was extinguished and the occupants were allowed back inside, he said.

Durante said the incident wasn't major since the fire was contained to the dryer.

Neighbor Barbara Hammond said fire trucks were up and down the residential street to put out the fire. She said the electricity never went out.

A charred dryer remained at the front of the house later Sunday morning.
