Head-On Collision Sends Three to the Hospital

A head-on crash at the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Ridgewood Road in Westwood Tuesday shortly before 6 p.m. sent three to the hospital.

According to Capt. Frank Durante, a silver Hyundai traveling southbound on Lafayette Avenue and a black Mitsubishi traveling northbound on Lafayette and making a left onto Ridgewood Road collided in "almost the dead center of the intersection." The airbags in both vehicles deployed.

Both male drivers and a male passenger in the Mitsubishi were taken to the hospital. Durante said the driver of the Hyndai sustained a head injury that was not life threatening. The occupants of the Mitsubishi "went to be checked out," he said.

The crash is still under investigation and no citations were issued at the scene.
