Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Westwood

The heavy rain that fell Sunday caused flooding in a few areas in Westwood. Broadway was closed to motorists Monday morning at Lake Street by Westwood Plaza. Stretches of Broadway were flooded, especially in Hillsdale by the Kings shopping center.

Steuben Avenue residents in Westwood were cleaning up Monday morning after many had flooded garages. One yard was covered in water.

Steuben Avenue was closed to traffic at Lafayette Avenue shortly after 3 a.m. and baricades remained up around 8 a.m. Monday as residents began the cleanup. Many had moved items from their garages onto driveways to begin drying them out.

Washington Township fared much better in the rainstorm. Police said there were no reported problems.
