Hours of Operation, Police Organization Ordinances on Council Agenda

The Washington Township council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday

Washington Township councilmen are expected to vote on two ongoing ordinances during the meeting Monday night: the hours of operation ordinance and the police table of organization ordinance.

Members of the council are scheduled to vote on the adoption of the hours of operation ordinance. If approved, businesses in the township would be required to be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. The original version of the ordinance included movie theaters and excluded restaurants, but councilmen decided to exclude movie theaters to allow for movies that run past midnight and the occasional midnight showings. They decided to include restaurants in the ordinance since fast food establishments like would fall under that category.
