Pascack Valley PBA Honors Six for Actions in Westwood

The PBA gave out Civilian Awards last week

Pascack Valley PBA Local 206 honored six people last week with Civilian Awards for their heroic actions in Westwood.

According to Chris Kelley of the PBA, Angela Perkins of Westwood is credited with saving a neighbor's life last August. She called 911 and extinguished flames after her neighbor accidentally set himself on fire.

Kelley said Brandon Houlis saved his father by performing the Heimlich maneuver on him to dislodge an obstruction in May 2010.

Kellie Goodell and Richard Woods were recognized for their part in the rescue of mechanic Gary Haight after his arm became lodged in a piece of equipment last July.

"Kellie was the dispatcher on duty and showed overwhelming composure and professionalism," Kelley said. "Rick Woods is the Westwood DPW superintendent who operated the front loader used to lift the hopper blade off of Haight."

Theresa Mondo and Kevin Saul each received a Civilian Award for their assistance in the , who choked while at in Westwood in April, Kelley said.

All recipients were honored June 14 during a dinner hosted by Pascack Valley PBA Local 206. They each got certificates from PBA Local 206 President A.J. Pecora.
