Police officer on patrol saw the motorist drive past a stop sign without stopping

A Paramus teen was arrested Saturday and charged with underage DWI and motor vehicle violations.
A police officer parked on Westwood Avenue at the intersection of Bogart Place Saturday at 1:58 a.m. saw a gray Oldsmobile that failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Park Place and Westwood Avenue, according to reports.
Police said the officer used radar and clocked the vehicle traveling at 46 mph, above the speed limit. The officer pulled over the Oldsmobile on Broadway, according to reports.

The officer approaced the vehicle and asked for a license, registration and insurance card. As the officer spoke to the driver, Aurora Garcia, 18, of Paramus, he detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle, police said.
Garcia handed over her documents and was asked to perform two pre-exit tests, which she failed, according to police. She was asked to step out of the vehicle to perform field sobriety tests, which she did not perform satisfactorily, police said.
