Not all is back to normal along Broadway in Westwood after a weekend fire underground caused evacuations and power outages. PSE&G crews remained on the scene Tuesday performing work.
The , when all power was restored to the area. The problems occurred because of an underground fire that happened Saturday afternoon. PSE&G attributed the fire to salt and water seeping into manholes and settling on conductors.
PSE&G Utility Communications Consultant Deann Muzikar said work associated with the equipment failure was completed Monday night, but crews will be in the area Tuesday and Wednesday doing work to make the wiring more dependable.

"Today, we are working on a secondary circuit in the manhole to further improve reliability," Muzikar said. "We expect to be working there tomorrow as well."
No outages are associated with the work, according to Muzikar.

Traffic flow in Westwood was back to normal Tuesday morning, but there were still parking restrictions in the area. Most of the parallel parking spots along Broadway between Westwood Avenue and Irvington Street are blocked off by a temporary police order so PSE&G trucks can park there. Parking has been restored to the angled spots along Broadway in front of the train station.
Shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday, PSE&G employees were heading back underground to continue their work along Broadway between Westwood Avenue and Irvington Street. According to the , PSE&G crews have been out since the underground fire happened.
