Red Carpet Treasures is Open for Business

in downtown Westwood held its grand opening Friday, along with a fund-raiser for Shelter Our Sisters.

Eva Dellisanti and Jenny Meehan own the clothing and accessory store, which sells new and consigned items. Dellisanti formerly owned Eva's Boutique, which was on Third Avenue in the borough.

The pair decided to open Red Carpet Treasures as a new venture after they were unable to find jobs in the flailing economy. They said they were also tired of seeing empty stores downtown.

Ten percent of the proceeds Friday will be donated to Shelter Our Sisters in Hackensack, an organization that helps women and children who have been victims of abuse. Dellisanti said her sister is a rape counselor and that was partly why they chose the organization.

"We believe it's nice to help people," Dellisanti said.
