Township Police Search for Valentine's Day Burglar
Police say a dark skinned male entered a home and took jewelry while the resident was in the house

are on the lookout for a man who stole jewelry from a township home on Valentine's Day.
Officers Thomas Lawton and Michael Glock were sent to a home on Washington Avenue on Monday at 12:35 p.m. after a report of a burglary. When they arrived, the homeowner told them a man had entered his home and taken jewelry, police said.
Police said the burglar forcibly entered through the front door of the home while the homeowner was in a back room, went to the master bedroom and took jewelry. According to a police statement, "the burglar realized that someone was home and he abruptly fled the scene."

Police describe the burglar as a dark skinned male, possibly black or Hispanic, about six feet tall with black hair and a ponytail. Police said he may have fled the scene in a small, white vehicle.
Detective Sgt. John Calamari processed the home for evidence with the help of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Bergen County Sheriff's Department, according to police.
