Update: 83-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck in Downtown Westwood Critical

The Westwood woman was crossing Broadway at Westwood Avenue

The 83-year-old Fourth Avenue woman who was crossing Broadway from downtown Westwood toward the train tracks when she remained in critical condition Thursday, police said.

Chief Frank Regino said the Westwood woman was crossing Broadway from the bank building toward the train tracks when she was hit by a pickup truck.

Capt. Frank Durante said on the scene Wednesday that the vehicle was making a left onto Broadway from Westwood Avenue and struck the woman.

She was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with "some head trauma," according to Durante.

Regino said Thursday that the borough resident remains in critical condition at HUMC. He said the accident investigation is ongoing and no charges have yet been filed.
