WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Who would do such a thing? An elderly dog was found Monday tied to a post on Rt. 440 southbound. The dog, a large senior female Cane Corso, was found tied to a post at mile marker 1, just before the Woodbridge exit.
"This offense is being taken seriously," said the Woodbridge Animal Shelter, which currently has the dog.
The animal was wearing a unique collar and appears well cared for. Woodbridge Animal Control was called, as were the New Jersey State Police.

Police are currently reviewing video footage from three nearby tower poles in hope of seeing who might have left her. If you traveled on Rt. 440 south Sunday night and have a dash cam, the Woodbridge shelter asks that you review your footage and see if you notice any cars on the shoulder at mile marker 1.
The dog is doing "wonderfully" at the shelter, the group said on Facebook, where she's being taken for walks and getting brushed. She is not available for adoption at this time, and the shelter asks that you please don't call about her unless it is in reference to finding the person who left her.
