New Details Released on Woodbridge Fatal Stabbing

He picked her up on Randolph Avenue at around 3 a.m. Monday and she stabbed him in his car, police said.

Woodbridge, NJ - The Bayonne woman who police said first tried to hide the murder weapon has now been officially charged with murder in the stabbing death of a man in Woodbridge on Monday.

Amarlis Calderon, 32, was charged with murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the death of Pablo Caamano, 33. He is also of Bayonne.

Police determined that Calderon was walking on Randolph Avenue in Woodbridge at around 3 a.m. Monday when Caamano drove by and picked her up. The couple previously knew each other.

Calderon got into his vehicle and the couple headed towards Exit 12 on the New Jersey Turnpike, where they pulled to the side of the road. It was sometime during that car ride that Calderon stabbed him, police said, and, as Patch reported, Caamano was found dead off Exit 12 off the Turnpike.

At 3:21 a.m., NJ State troopers responded to the report of a bleeding, unconscious man. When troopers arrived at the ramp off Exit 12, they discovered the male victim, police said.

Police originally incorrectly reported Monday night that Calderon was found dead on Randolph Road.

Bail was set at $500,000 for Calderon, who is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center. In addition to murder, she was also charged with two counts of hindering police by lying to investigators and for disposing of a knife.
