Police Make Arrest In Middlesex County Homicide, Authorities Say
Police charged a Newark resident with the murder of a Middlesex County man, who was killed in his own home, authorities said.

Police have charged a Newark man with last year’s fatal stabbing of a Middlesex County resident, authorities said.
Dewayne A. Williams, 23, was charged Friday with murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
He is accused of the Dec. 7 stabbing of Jean Carlos Morel, 27, who was killed inside his Perth Amboy home, according to a news release from Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Perth Amboy Deputy Chief Larry Cattano.

According to the news release:
Investigators determined Williams stabbed Morel in the victim’s second-floor apartment on Smith Street, then fled. On some occasions, the victim had allowed Williams to stay at the apartment.

Williams was arrested outside a Newark home, following an intensive investigation by Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Gregory Morris and Perth Amboy Detective Sandy Rivera.
The U.S. Marshals Service assisted investigators.
Williams is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $750,000 bail.
