Woman Drives Into Woodbridge Driving School

A Fords woman accidentally drove into the EZ Wheels driving school Thursday morning. She was actually trying to park across the street.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A woman accidentally drove into the EZ Wheels driving school Thursday morning, Nov. 30 in Woodbridge Township.

Yes, the accident actually occurred at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Woodbridge police said. The woman, a 60-year-old Fords resident, was not a client of the driving school's and she was not even trying to park there at all. She was attempting to park across the street, in the rear parking lot of 201 New Brunswick Avenue, Capt. Roy Hoppock said.

However, she accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake. This sent her car forward, over the concrete parking stop and curb, across New Brunswick Avenue, through a retaining wall, some bushes and into two parked cars. Her car also struck the side of 171 New Brunswick Avenue, which is the EZ Wheels driving school.

The woman was uninjured, but the impact ripped the gas meter off the building. Because of a possible gas leak, the driving school and nearby buildings were temporarily evacuated Thursday. The woman was issued a summons for careless driving.
