Woodbridge Police Arrest 10 On DWI Charges

Woodbridge police set up sobriety checkpoints and staffed roving patrols for the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

Woodbridge police arrested 10 people on driving while intoxicated charges, as part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

As part of the campaign, officers set up a sobriety checkpoint and staffed roving patrols last weekend, police said in a news release.

Officers also made arrests on outstanding warrants, and took a DWI hit-and-run suspect into custody, police said.

The program was funded in part by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey Drunk Driving Enforcement Fund. With high-visibility enforcement and a public education campaign, the program seeks to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving, police said.

“Alcohol consumption impairs your judgement and reaction time, putting not only yourself, but everyone else on the road, in danger,’’ Police Director Robert Hubner said in a prepared statement.

Capt. Roy Hoppock said police believe the campaign helped make township roads safer for everyone.
