Woodbridge's New COVID Cases Drop To Under 100 A Week

From July to September, Woodbridge averaged 142 new cases a week. Now, that number is finally dropping and staying under 100:

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — For the first time since July, Woodbridge is starting to see coronavirus cases fall to fewer than 100 new cases a week.

This follows national trends, as coronavirus cases have been dropping for the past two weeks. Health officials say the wave of the delta variant is subsiding.

"I think this delta wave is probably the last major surge of SARS-CoV-2 infection that we have in the U.S., barring something unexpected happening," said former U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb on Oct. 4, according to Reuters.

For the next two Tuesdays and Thursdays, Woodbridge will run its vaccine booster clinic from 3-6 p.m. at the Woodbridge Health Center. Book an appointment due to an expected increase in demand by calling 732-855-0600 ext 5004.

The FDA has authorized booster doses for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson and they now say the public can "mix and match" which booster they get. It does not have to match the original vaccine.

Booster shots are available to anyone 65 and over and those under 65 with immune deficiencies.

Woodbridge also has the Pfizer vaccine for children 12 and over.
